- In negotiation, a 'Black Swan' is a hidden piece of information that changes everything. To get it, you must use 'Tactical Silence' combined with a 'Label.'
HOW TO DO IT :
- When they are explaining a situation or an argument, listen closely for a slight change in their emotion or a hesitation.
- Use a Label: 'It seems like you are hesitating to tell me the full story about [X].'
- Shut up completely. Do not say another word.
- Let the silence become painfully awkward. Count to 10 in your head.
WHY IT WORKS :
- Humans cannot handle the pressure of an accurate label followed by dead silence. They will inevitably 'word vomit' and reveal the exact secret or true feeling they were trying to hide just to break the awkward tension.
